Configure Codex (ChatGPT app)

Orbit AI API Team2026/07/113 min read

For a Codex client that supports OpenAI-compatible APIs, point its Base URL to Orbit AI API and provide the key in a local environment variable.

Configure with AI Toolbox

Add Orbit AI API as a custom Codex channel in AI Toolbox and configure its Base URL, API key, and model mapping. AI Toolbox can also switch between an official Codex account and custom channels.

1. Add a provider

Create a Codex provider with Base URL https://orbitaiapi.site/v1 and an API key from the console.

Final checks

Reopen Codex or the ChatGPT app and send a simple request. For an authentication error, check that the API key is correct, contains no spaces, and remains enabled.
